Frequently asked

LinkedIn video thumbnail preview FAQ

What size is a LinkedIn video thumbnail?

Landscape 16:9 videos read best in the feed, ideally 1920脳1080. LinkedIn also supports 1:1 square and 9:16 vertical, so use the ratio toggle to check how each crops.

Why does my LinkedIn video get cropped in the feed?

The feed frames your video to the ratio you uploaded, then the play button and duration sit on top. Keep faces and text away from the center and the bottom-right corner.

Where do the play button and post text cover the video?

A large play control sits dead center and the runtime badge sits bottom-right, while your post text runs above the video. The preview mocks that chrome so your cover stays legible.

Can I upload a custom cover instead of a video frame?

Yes. LinkedIn shows the first frame by default, but a custom cover reads far better. Preview it here first to be sure it holds up at feed size.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. Everything renders locally in your browser, so your cover never leaves your device.
