How do I compress a thumbnail under 2 MB for YouTube?
Upload the image, keep the YouTube 2 MB target selected, and download. The tool lowers quality automatically until the file lands at or below 2 MB.
Will compressing make my thumbnail blurry?
Not at normal targets. JPG and WebP compression is barely visible around 80% quality. Only very small limits (like 200 KB) on detailed images start to soften edges.
Which format compresses best, JPG or WebP?
WebP is usually 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same quality, so choose WebP for the smallest file. Keep JPG when you need the widest compatibility.
Does the image get uploaded to your servers?
No. Compression runs in your browser via canvas, so the file never leaves your device.
What if the target is too small for my image?
Enable 'reduce dimensions' so the tool can shrink the image as a last resort, or pick a larger target. Very large photos may not fit an extremely small limit at full resolution.
